WWW Wednesday – October 21, 2020

Happy Wednesday, all! I have to admit, it is going to be a quiet WWW this week. While I got so much reading done for last week, this week, I haven’t finished anything. This isn’t for lack of desire to read – no slumps here. I have just been so preoccupied with work stuff that I have neglected what makes me happy. Here’s to hoping for a better next week.

The WWW Wednesday meme is currently hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words, and is a great way to do a weekly update on what you’ve been reading and what you have planned.

To take part, all you have to do is answer the following three questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

So, without further ado…

What I am Currently Reading:

Idols & Enemies is from last week, because I haven’t had as much time as I would like to dive into it. For my paper book, I am reading Murder on Cold Street because I am obsessed with the Lady Sherlock series and will always rush to read them when they come in. It is a little slower than normal, but I still love it.

What I Recently Finished Reading:

I only finished The Orphan of Cemetery Hill last week, and had to take a small break before reviewing it because I was disappointed. I finally reviewed it yesterday, but still feel lingering “meh” from reading a book I had high hopes for that fell flat. However, I think others will like it more than I did, mostly because there some redeeming qualities and because the love interest that I hated may be more popular with other readers.

What I Think I’ll Read Next:

So many books, so little time. I have received all of the above in the mail already / as e-book and they were all on my October TBR, so it is fair game. My copy of Dark Archives is coming in the mail today, and I am ridiculously excited about it despite it being non-fiction; Magic Lessons is a prequel to my favorite book and was my BOTM pick, so I would like to get to it sooner than later; The Midnight Library looks like a cozy October read as compared to a spooky one; and A Deadly Education was one of my most anticipated books for this year (I have learned that some reviewers are finding it racist and un-inclusive, which is a shame because I pre-ordered it. I will read it and if it is that bad, I will pass it along. Bummer though).

Conclusion:

That’s all for me! I am definitely hoping for some more action in next week’s WWW, and have a vacation coming up starting October 30 so I am ridiculously excited to get my reading on. Tell me what you think in the comments, and drop your WWW Wednesday link :).

    1. I love your review! I like that you dived into the historical context a lot. Honestly, I did enjoy Orphans, but the romance really ruined it for me. I will definitely read more Hester Fox, though. Thanks for stopping by 🙂
