WWW WEDNESDAYS is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @Taking On A World Of Words and is all about answering the three questions below. It has been years since I have participated, but I have always loved this prompt!
- WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

I’m currently reading one backlog book, Written in Stone by Paige Shelton, and two belated ARCs from Netgalley: V is for Venom: Agatha Christie’s Chemicals of Death by Kathryn Markup and The CIA Book Club by Charlie English. I have Paige Shelton’s Scottish Bookshop Mysteries on preorder, so this is like coming home. However, the other two are both nonfiction, and I think I bit off more than I can chew (no matter how interesting I find both subjects).
- WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?

1. A Terribly Nasty Business by Julia Seales (RTC)
This is the second book in the Beatrice Seale series (book one review here). I liked this much more than book 1, and cannot wait to publish my review.
2. Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry
This is my first Emily Henry (shocking, I know) and was read for my office’s women’s book club. Admittedly, not my favorite. I like my romcoms with more com. Undecided on if I will review.
3. Shot Through the Book by Eva Gates (RTC)
Another author on my preorder list, Gates’ Lighthouse Library Series are the ultimate cozy mystery comfort reads. While this was not my favorite installment, I still love coming back to this worldbuild.
4. The Journal of a Thousand Years by C.J. Archer
I have been reading C.J. Archer books for years on the Kindle, but this is the first series I bought for “the shelf.” I love her historical fantasy worlds; she is a titan in the genre. This finished the Glass Library series, and I loved the ending.
5. The Myth Maker by Alie Dumas-Heidt (RTC)
This is a slightly belated ARC with a review to come shortly. I loved the premise of a killer using Greek mythology in his MO, but thought the execution was a little spotty. I also don’t usually read grittier murders, so this was a little noir for me. But overall, a really engaging read. RTC.
- WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’LL READ NEXT?

Next up is two ARCs and two “auto preorder” faves: The Game is Murder by Hazell Ward and A Ghostwriter’s Guide to Murder by Melinda Mullet for my ARCs, and The Incident of the Book in the Nighttime by Vicki Delany and Kills Well with Others by Deanna Raybourn for my 2025 preorders. I am excited for the ARCs because I have never read either author (Mullet is a seasoned murder mystery writer and Ward is a new player). I am, of course, so excited to read my tried and trues.
Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts on these picks! Always interested in hearing recommendations also.
I enjoyed the Deanna Raybourn. I plan to read both the Ward and Mullet.
